On the Road Again!
Hey Folks!
Thanks for checking out this update.
I'm happy to tell you that I'm doing a lot of performances. When it comes to clowning, I'd rather DO IT, than just talk about it.
I'm doing a few Christmas shows as Oxford P. Nutts with my son, Ben. In this show, the audience is invited into the living room of Oxford P. Nutts to enjoy the Christmas celebration. We're working on some new routines which are reminiscent of Abbott & Costello dialogs. How fun!
Also, Ben and I have met with the incredible Mr. Don B! (http://www.donbministries.com/) and we have began working through some concepts and performance aspects for a new touring show. We are hoping to open this in central Minnesota at the end of next March and beginning of April.
With all of that said, you may imagine the pace of life right now, along with my local church programming and community performances.
Consequently, Jeff McMullen and I have not set a date nor time to come together for a Next Step workshop. My thoughts?.........possibly in the fall of 2009. Maybe in 2010.
I know that Jeff has considered doing a small group training for clowns at his new facility in Appleton. You may want to contact him about that at 920.733.3444.
If you want to learn specifically from me, I do travel to other locations and teach. In February '09 I will be in Houston at the "Joey to the World" conference and also at the "Show Me Clowns For Jesus" conference in Springfield, MO. There are times local clown groups have brought me in just for a day of training. That may be an option. ...or you can come to Willmar and visit me!
I have some DVD's available that you may be interested in. The first is "Clown Training" and is about 80 minutes of clowning teaching. The next is "My Performance" which is an hour of me performing my various characters.
To see more of my thoughts and insights, you may want to read my articles in "Cross and the Clown" magazine, or in the World Clown Association "Clowning Around".
During this time, I'm learning and growing. The best way to learn one's character and how to communicate with an audience is simply by getting out there and DOING IT. And that's what I'm doing. Hopefully I'll continue to grow so I have more to share with you in the future.
Bless ya today!
Randy
