Chicago-land Announcement for 2013!
We are excited about the upcoming "Next Step" Workshop!
The "Next Step" is geared to give you personal interaction with other experienced clown ministry folks who are working to improve their platform skills. We focus on clear, strategic, mime-based movement concepts. We work intently on writing message-based routines. These usually are biblically-based routines, but the process applies to writing skits that carry messages for school assemblies, libraries and other venues also. Each day you have the opportunity to receive "open mic" coaching from the staff -- giving practical, insightful, individualized recommendations to help you improve your clown presentations.
This "Next Step" workshop will also include never-taught-before sessions (at a Next Step) with two new staff members -- Ben & Christine Christensen. Christine is a prolific student and performer in physical theater and dance with over a decade of committed experience. Ben, the current WCA All-Around Clown award-winner and current circus and cruise ship entertainer, will be sharing insights on "flash theater," guiding eccentric concepts, and coaching circus skills.
The Next Step Workshop begins on Wednesday afternoon, features a Wednesday night "Family Event" performed by the Next Step staff, numerous days of "hands on" training and coaching, and concludes with the attendees presenting Sunday morning services.
Registration is $360. This includes all sessions, a meal a day, an
expansive notebook and snacks. Housing not included.

We will be offering a number of sessions that have never been taught at a Next Step, while also focusing on writing quality clown ministry material, effective communication techniques through movement (mime-based), and platform presentation.
I think one of the HUGE differences in our Next Step experience is the supportive, relational atmosphere. We learn together, laugh together, eat together, pray together, clown together, challenge each other, and encourage each other throughout the workshop. Individual coaching is given on routines on which you are working.
Only 15 registration spots are open. Registration is $360 (not including housing). A $75 deposit will hold your place.
